What was the Lord was speaking into your heart through this message? 
Disappointments are inevitable, but discouragement is a choice. Explain. 


Dig Deeper
In Deuteronomy 1:21 Moses told the people not to fear or be discouraged. He trusted the Lord to take care of all their needs. Their response was disappointing as all they seemed to do was fear and be discouraged (see verses 22-41). So they rebelled, complained, neither believed nor listened, and were arrogant. After all they saw the Lord do for them over the many years of their wilderness journey, what was still their main issue with God? When God Himself asks uncomfortable things of you, how do you typically respond? Might your main issue be the very same as that of the Israelites in Deuteronomy 1?       
Pastor Bob shared with us the negative progression of discouragement to doubt to disbelief to despair to dishonor to disaster. How might you explain the significance of trust (found 186 times in Bible) and faith (391 times in Bible) as the most effective ways to live in order to avoid disaster? How would you characterize the trust and faith of the Israelites from Deuteronomy 1? How would you characterize your own trust and faith in the Lord? 
The three ways the enemy intends to keep us out of the goodness of God is by a misconception of reality, by keeping contagious company, and a wrong source of confidence. In your own words describe each one. Which do you see in Deuteronomy 1? Which can you now look back and recognize in your own life?

What is it that you sense the Lord wants to do in your life where fear or discouragement may be hindering Him?   
What are the next steps for you as a result of this message in order to allow the Lord to do amazing things in you and through you?
