UN LEADER SAYS REOPENING SCHOOLS SHOULD BE TOP GLOBAL PRIORITY: Officials from the World Health Organization hold a briefing on the latest developments of the global coronavirus outbreak. Earlier this week, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that the coronavirus is causing ‘the largest disruption of education ever.’ He said that getting students back into the classroom should be a ‘top priority’ for countries around the world, as some students in more remote areas are unable to access the internet for digital learning. Guterres also noted that parents, and especially women, ‘have been forced to assume heavy care burdens in the home.’ According to the UN, as of August 2, more than one billion students in over 160 countries were affected by school closures.
