Parliamentarians from the 47-nation Council of Europe are insisting that every citizen should be entitled to a broad "right to know" to encourage democratic participation and combat disinformation.
Italian Senator Roberto Rampi - whose report on this topic has just been endorsed by the Assembly - tells Mediabox's Charles Amponsah that such a right would consist of maximum transparency in public life, a vibrant and diverse media, and a rich educational and cultural environment, among other things.
