This fort is the custodian of the historical greatness of the Jat Bhatti Rajput clan. According to historians, it was built in 800 AD by Jaisal Mir and the ancient Jat Bhatti Rajput ruler Rawal Dev Raj Bhatti of the present Bahawalpur state. During this period, this king was also called Raja Deva Bhatti.
Derawar Fort, 100 km from Bahawalpur, can be seen for miles in the middle of the Cholistan desert in Tehsil Ahmadpur East. The walls and structure of this fort in Cholistan are a manifestation of the glory of the era and its Amin is the past of the region.
According to historians, Rawal Dev Raj Bhatti, the ancient Jat Bhatti Rajput ruler of Jaisal Mir and present-day Bahawalpur State, had it built in 800 AD. That is why its name was Deva Rawal Fort which has been corrupted to Deva Rawar and now Derawar.
