This Is Why All Buyers LOVE The 2023 Mazda 3!
The Mazda 3 has always been a popular choice among car buyers, however, in recent years, it has started to steal the limelight from best sellers such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. But what exactly about the new Mazda 3 is making it such a hit in recent times?
Keep watching this video to learn why buyers love the new 2023 Mazda 3…
If you happen to be thinking of an affordable and reliable car, visualize the Mazda 3. Since the mid-2000s, this awesome little car has been biting significant chunks out of the U.S. market share for compact cars, much to the dismay of Mazda’s competitors. Thanks to its good fuel economy, onboard tech, and great array of safety features, it has become almost synonymous with smooth driving and sharp handling.
Back in 2020, it actually won the award for World Car Design of the Year, which is no surprise given its modern styling. Also, the Mazda 3 is constantly scoring highly for its reliability, value, and comfort. For obvious reasons, value and reliability are often more important to customers than stylish exteriors or sophisticated interior cabins, that’s probably why Toyota and Honda do so well…?
Every new 2023 Mazda 3 will come with either a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-four, good for up to 191 hp as well as 186 pound-feet of torque, OR for the premium trims, a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four generating 250hp, and 320 pound-feet of torque providing you use the more expensive 93 octane gasoline. Yeahhh, we like the sound of the second one best…, there have been many reports of the turbo model doing 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds. This is a similar time to Honda’s front-wheel-drive Civic Type R model, although we wouldn’t bet money on it keeping up with the Type R around a track, it’s an interesting thought.
It goes without saying that the new Mazda 3 has a powerful torque-based engine for its more premium variants, and some of its competitors’ upgraded engines don't even produce this much power.
Also, all versions of the Mazda 3 will come standard with a six-speed automatic, but at the same time, the top-of-the-line Premium Hatchback can be fitted with a six-speed manual which is front-drive only, and will almost definitely be the driving enthusiast's version of choice. The front-wheel drive is standard with the automatic, which is odd for the segment, however, the all-wheel drive is an option.
The fuel economy for the all-new Mazda 3 is not bad at all, it can get up to 30 mpg combined for several versions with the automatic and the front-wheel drive, but the base model gets around 31 mpg. Now, even a base AWD model is suitable for 30 mpg combined however, it falls to 29 mpg in the Premium trim. Hey, losing 1mpg for a little extra luxury? We’re good with that.
Moreover, the Mazda 3 Turbo is a special entry in the segment in which it provides a large power upgrade without any sort of high-performance chassis upgrades you would typically find in some of its rivals’ sportier models, such as the Honda Civic Si. It sports Mazda's 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder found in much heavier cars such as the CX-9 and CX-50 in Mazda’s SUV lineup.
User's can only get the Turbo model with a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The fuel economy dips to 27 or 26 mpg combined, which depends on which trim of Turbo you decide to pick.
The all new 2023 Mazda 3 is so much fun. Car experts have already talked about the Mazda's impressively strong powertrain, however its ride and handling really make it quite unique. The steering weight is right in the middle of the range from light to heavy, which is great, because you don’t want to feel like you driving an track-spec M3 driving to work, but also you want it to feel like you’re having some input.
Additionally, the chassis then follows suit, being amazingly neutral and not even suggesting a hint of understeer. The body roll is refreshingly minimal and over bumps, the new Mazda 3 doesn’t get tense at all, which is impressive considering its torsion-beam rear-end. It feels like a car that welcomes the challenge of ripping around corners. Thankfully, the automaker's ride quality is maintained, despite its handling credentials.
The new Mazda 3 is no doubt on the firmer side, enough to put some people off. But, the firmness is camouflaged in excellent body control. The road noise and engine noise are barely noticeable, as well, making for a reasonably refined daily driving experience.
