In an exclusive interview to Rajya Sabha TV, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot says that the Centre filed review petition in the Supreme Court because it sincerely believes that the rights of the SC/ ST s should be protected, and the law should not be diluted.

Gehlot also slammed the Opposition for politicising the issue but expressed confidence that the BJP government will not face any backlash in the election bound states because the Modi government had worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden dalits and SC/STs through various schemes.
