Fujifilm cameras with the CMOS-EXR sensor (X10) feature a unique shooting mode called the EXR mode. You can use it automatically or choose more specifically: SN (signal to noise), DR (dynamic range), HR (high resolution). The EXR-SN mode allows you to reduce noise, the EXR-DR enables advanced methods of modulating dynamic range, and the EXR-HR mode ensures that the resolution and image fine detail are maximally good. The price to pay is that in the DR and SN modes, you will have to drop the resolution down to 6 MPix (from the native resolution of 12 MPix). In this video, I explain how Fuji's EXR mode works and whether the image quality gained is worth the reduction in overall resolution. I think EXR is a fine mode, but it is not universally the best for every situation. I show you sample photos taken with various settings of Fujifilm's EXR function.
