Yup, you heard me correctly.
I record, mix and master heavy bands for a living..
And I use only TWO amp sims for the large majority of my work.
Every once in a blue moon I’ll try something different, but when it comes to producing the results that clients shell out cash for..
I reach for the same two plugins over and over and over again.
I know this might seem absurd given the fact that every five seconds there’s a new amp sim plugin hitting the market that “sounds and feels like a real tube amp”, but I want you to know the truth:
You’re better off using only a handful of plugins and knowing them well than owning a million different plugins..and not knowing any of them well (which is most home studio owners).
In my latest tutorial, I show you exactly why I only use two amp sims in the studio and why you only need a handful of tools to achieve the results you actually want for your music.
Unfortunately many of us get caught in the unnecessary trap of endlessly buying and obsessing over amp sims.
