The video opens in a park setting. The hills in the background seems to indicate that this is in the Simi Valley area, not far from where the Protsenkos live. A 9 year old Karolina is dressed in a blue, scoop-neck, sleeveless, three layered dress with white polka dots, and wearing an off-white straw hat. I wonder if she's supposed to remind us of 'Dorothy' of The Wizard of Oz?
Karolina has her arms spread wide, then performs what is supposed to look like a series of graceful spins. To me, it just looks out-of-place for a little girl to do.
Karolina has a big smile as she starts playing the familiar song.
At 1:18 seconds, the camera fades to another sequence of Karolina performing what is supposed to look like a series of expressive, freestyle dance moves. To me, it just looks like a little girl imitating something that she's seen an older teenager perform. Karolina would have to be at least a teenager in order to perform such dance moves without being wobbly, and to look more graceful.
At 1:38 sec, Karolina is seen playing violin once more.
If I was the director, I'd just feature Karolina playing her violin. I would not include any dancing that doesn't seem natural for a girl of Karolina's age to do.
Uh oh, more interpretive dance at 2:12 seconds. I feel that a 9 year old girl performing interpretive dance is fine for use in Home Movies to be viewed just by the family. It doesn't seem age-appropriate for a young girl to be doing such dancing in video intended for the general public.
After the song ends, Karolina mentions that this is an old song. I wonder if she knows that 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is the featured song of "The Wizard of Oz" from way back in 1939 performed by 16 year old Judy Garland.
