The boys start the North American trek of the 2000 tour at this show in Seattle. Unlike the previous tour of America in 1998 where the band played mainly arenas and amphitheaters, because of the very mixed reception to the Standing Of The Shoulders Of Giants album (the album was only at No.1 in the charts for one week, a far cry from Be Here Now’s 5 weeks, and worlds away from Morning Glory’s 9 weeks) as well as the previous mixed reception to the previous album, the band were playing in theaters with a couple exceptions, with many of them being under 3,000 capacity. This shows the beginning of the ‘dark years’ where Oasis were beginning to be forgotten about as competition from the new millennium dawned on them, especially in the U.S (this was never really a problem in Europe). Anyways, both Sunday Morning Call and Helter Skelter have been removed in the set for tonight. Where Did It All Go Wrong takes Sunday Morning Call’s place for this American Tour as it was released as a radio single, and tonight debut’s the cover of Neil Young song Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black). This was because tonight was the sixth anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, and one of the lyrics in the Neil Young song was included in his suicide letter, so as the band are in his hometown of Seattle, it seemed a fitting tribute. It would be played at many shows through to 2002.

The performance is a bit more of a stilted one for the tour, as the band are playing a little bit more sluggish on some songs, but there’s still some nice moments here especially in the second half of the show, like some great playing from Noel in Stand By Me, and a pretty good rendition of Cigarettes & Alcohol. I think what does bring the performance down somewhat is Liam’s voice. Having shown times of wear and tear already (and having had to give up a gig just days into the tour) you can already hear his voice giving up here and there as evident in Go Let It Out, Roll With It and Cigarettes & Alcohol. However these moments are still minimal as of now, and the ending of Live Forever actually is fantastic from him.
