DESCRIPTION
The caterpillar of the death’s-head hawkmoth (Acherontia atropos, Fam. Sphingidae) has molted on June 26. 2019 resulting in a last caterpillar stage
( [ Ссылка ] ). Thereafter the caterpillar consumed large quantities of privet. It now has a body diameter of about 1.8 cm and a body length of ~ 12 cm. The film shows different stages of food intake and a back view of the caterpillar with its typical pattern. On this clip you can also see the elongated tubular heart of the caterpillar in action. It lies directly under the back skin and runs through the whole body length.
