"I worked on the collection and I must say when I first started it I really felt very strong the need to put fashion down from its pedestal and more to everyday life to street and everything. That's why we show today in the daylight for the first time and I felt very much if I think about the last collection, the winter one, it was about the interior design and more intimate, it's now as if that kind of woman now looks outside the window to the street and sees what happens. It means key looks like biker jackets, parkas, combat boots but always in our style. It's been re-seen in a way."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Veronica Etro/Designer - on the collection:
"I was very much into showing personal style, identity, freedom of expression, so the fact also layering, piling things, of customization, of customizing the looks, it looks as if sometimes there is on the biker jacket a panel of brocade, on leather stitch and then we printed on both fabrics together and again the devoré print has been printed again micro-floral and then a paisley has been devoréed on top, so there's not only a layering of garments but also layering in the texture of the craftsmanship of the clothes, so there's a lot going on. And at the same time though I wanted to keep it very easy, relaxed at the end, very effortless and also here every woman has her own hairdo. I didn't want to create the sort of everyone the same."

ETRO CELEBRATES CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH NEW COLLECTION
It's all about exquisite craftsmanship and customized layering for Etro.
Designer Veronica Etro said the new Fall-Winter 2016/17 collection started off with wanting to bring fashion back to basics.
"When I first started it I really felt very strong the need to put fashion down from its pedestal and more to everyday life to street and everything. That's why we show today in the daylight for the first time," Etro said backstage in Milan Friday (26 FEB. 2016).
The ideas soon evolved into showcasing a modern, street style in a baroque fashion suited to the company's style or "re-seen" by Etro as she puts it.
The new line brings forth a casual layering of very intricately made fabrics.
"I was very much into showing personal style, identity, freedom of expression, so the fact also layering, piling things, of customization, of customizing the looks."
Biker jackets with brocade panels, printed lace sweaters, soft knits, oriental devoré prints balanced by heavy military coats, and of course the iconic Paisley motif that Etro is known for were all present in the collection.
The color palette revolved around purples, earthy tones, china blue and reds.
