I was in Manhattan in early November of 2019. I decided to try the Pizza joint on the corner of 42nd street and 9th avenue. The deal was 2.75 for two slices of pizza and a drink. I order two of these specials and give the scam artist clerk a $20 dollar bill, he then tells me I owe him $2 dollars more. I told him that doesn't add up and he owes me change. After some quick talking and diversion on his part, he told me I only gave him a $5. Then his pizza-making friend yells that he saw me only give the clerk a $5. It would have been impossible that the pizza maker saw anything because of where he was standing. I ended up leaving the place and flagged down an NYPD officer. The Officer told me my situation was unfortunate because the NYPD only investigates criminal activity. I told him it was criminal because the pizza joint just stole 20 dollars. This is the kind of place that should be avoided by tourists and locals. These guys have a scam that tries to confuse and ripoff the customer. There is nothing you can do about it except expose these joints on youtube.
