Do protests work?
With everything happening across the country, it seems like the perfect time to talk about something. Despite the millions of people on the streets fighting for change, if we look at modern us history, protests don't work. It's a little strange to say because people like to talk about how engaged they are and how they took to the streets to fight for change, but the largest protests this century (totaling millions of people) largely didn't accomplish anything.
The problem is, with the rise of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, it's now easier than ever to get the word out to thousands of people, but as a result, protests are more spur of the moment, and as a result, lacking the planing necessary to accomplish their goals. The largest fault of modern protests is that they don't set out a path forward for how participants can continue fighting for change, even after the protest has ended, and as a result, most movements fizzle out come election time.
In this video, we'll be making the case for why protests don't work, and explaining the key steps needed to fix them to enact change.
