SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Thanks to increased water levels, largely in part due to record snowfall this past winter, more than 30 boats were placed into their slips at the Great Salt Lake Marina on Tuesday.
2News was at the Great Salt Lake State Park as a crane carefully placed the first boat of the day, "Second Wind," onto the water within the marina.
“It’s a great thing because a lot of people can remember last season the marina was dried up, all the boats got pulled from it, the launch ramp was closed which is not something that’s in any sense of normalcy for the Great Salt Lake Marina," said Devan Chavez, public information officer with Utah State Parks. "There wasn’t really any idea of when this was going to be able to happen and to have it happen so soon is just phenomenal news for the sailing community.”
