Ricky Megee, an Australian, became well-known for surviving 71 days stranded in the Outback in 2006. Megee offered conflicting accounts of how he ended up stranded while traveling through the Northern Territory and Western Australia. He initially claimed his car broke down but later suggested he was carjacked by an armed gang. Despite these inconsistencies, a doctor confirmed that his condition matched someone who had endured extreme circumstances. The Tanami Desert, like many deserts, can reach temperatures of 40°C (104°F) during the day and become very cold at night. Megee managed to survive by constructing primitive shelters, drinking rainwater, and consuming small animals and vegetation.
