Formerly known as The Oriental Library, the Oriental Research Institute of Mysore was under the Education Department. It was also the first public library of Mysore. In 1916 it became a part of the Mysore University and was later renamed as the Oriental Research Institute in the year 1946. It has published over 200 valuable titles till date. The institute is home to a large collection of printed books in different languages related to the study of Sanskrit as well. Today, years later, ‘Mysore Orientalist’, an annual journal by them continues to be published.
