Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K)
Episode 405 - "Being from Another Planet"
Original Air Date: July 4, 1992 (Comedy Central)
"Being from Another Planet" is a re-edit of a movie called “Time Walker.” A strange mummy is found in King Tutankhamun’s tomb (King Tut) by B movie star Ben Murphy playing, "Douglas McCadden", a handsome archeology professor at California University of Sciences who enjoys his job and dates one of his current students. The mummy is brought to the university for further testing and exhumation by Prof. McCadden's students because that's how we always treat unusual, rare, Egyptian mummies in America. The mummy is x-rayed by the university team and is exposed to way too much radiation but it might help his tan a bit since he hasn't seen the sun in about 3,300 years. The mummy somehow awakens after his Chinese-Checkers-game-looking device's crystals are stolen from the secret compartment in the bottom of the sarcophagus by the greedy radiologist and it goes on a hunt to re-obtain it's crystals. During his search many young students die while calm, cool and collected Ben Murphy/Prof. McCadden scours the university grounds for whomever stole his mummy. With some odd green mold that burns the skin on contact and a killer mummy on the loose during the Halloween costume party on campus, the laughs fly as Joel and the bots tear every aspect of this "film" apart. On a personal note, this movie is not really that bad considering most of the others in MST's catalog lol. It was made in 1982, has a decent plot and even a decent looking mummy and Egyptian sarcophagus prop. Even the acting is fairly decent. So sit back, relax and enjoy one of my favorite Joel episodes.
