In this second video of a multi-part video training series, we learn all about The Nord Stage 3 synth engine and how to understand and work with the synthesizer oscillators and oscillator configurations. We explore all the waveform types and each of the oscillator categories including Classic, Wave, F-Wave, and S-Wave along and briefly discuss the sampler player as well. As we explore the various waveforms, we present most of these on a frequency spectrum analyzer so that we can better appreciate what these waveforms are doing visually from a frequency standpoint and how the various configurations play a direct role in the results we hear.

We also dive fairly deep with each of the "Oscillator Configurations" including Basic, Pitch, Shape, Sync, Detune, Mix Sign, Mix Triangle, Mix Saw, Mix Square, Mix Bell, Mix Noise 1, Mix Noise 2, FM 1 (Frequency Modulation 1), FM 2 (Frequency Modulation 2), and Ring Modulation. Where applicable, we also discuss semitones and their influence on the selected configurations.

I also take a few liberties where I do my best to reflect on a given sound and where we might have heard the usage of these sounds in the real world. Towards the end of the video, I demonstrate some practical uses of the Super-wave category in 80s-style music.

Each video will be its own lesson on the Nord Stage 3 synthesizer stacked together as a playlist for a complete training and tutorial bundle. If you watch all the videos in the series as a whole package, you will learn a great deal about the following aspects of the Nord Stage 3.
