Today, I search for some more historical landmarks in Istanbul. I explain the mysterious Roman Marcian Column during my walk from Aksaray Metro, Istanbul, to the Marcian Column. I refer to this as a mysterious column because the column is not documented in any late Roman or Byzantine sources and its history can only be inferred from its inscription "PRINCIPISHANCSTATUAMMARCIANI CERNEFORUMQUE PRAEFECTUSVOVITQUODTATIANUS OPUS". In English, it means "This is the monument of Emperor Marcian. The Prefect Tatianus dedicated this monument". It was hidden in a private garden until a fire in 1908 led to a replanning of the neighbourhood. During this walk, I narrate the life and times of the Emperor Marcian. After, I search for entrance of the Valens Aquaduct bridge on the 4th hill of what was Constantinople (now Istanbul) and explore the life and times of the Emperor Valens.
