1. Take long breaks in between your lessons and allow for free play. This gives both you and your child an opportunity to clear your head and approach each subject with a clean slate. Also, in our home, play time is just as important as school work – SO much of your child’s learning is done through hands-on play.
2. Don’t feel bad about moving subjects and concepts that aren't sticking to the back burner. Focus as much as you can on the concepts that your child IS understanding and grasping. Lean into their interests and their favorite ways to learn. Build confidence in the things that they are good at before revisiting areas that they struggle in.
3. Change up your scenery! Take advantage of homeschool freedom and flexibility. Put your schoolwork on a clipboard and head to the park, on a hiking trail, a coffee shop, the library, or even a fort in your living room! Show your child that learning doesn’t always have to be rigid and serious – it can be relaxing, fun, and laid-back!
