Phoenix drivers will be able to navigate between the East and West Valley without having to drive through downtown Phoenix thanks to the Loop 202 South Mountain freeway.
The freeway dates back to 1983, when the proposal for it was introduced. The corridor has been approved by voters twice as part of MAG's Regional Transportation Plan — through Proposition 300 in 1985 and Proposition 400 in 2004
