Quick demo of how I prevent tool chatter when turning grooves on the pencil bodies I make. The bodies are about 11cm long, 8mm hex, with a 6mm hole up the middle, and are held between centers. Normally, they produce a lot of chatter when turning. However, I designed a couple of plugs with lots of little O-rings which are a press-fit inside the body. This completely kills any chatter, resulting in a much better finish.
