Wordy Word is a fast-paced word game that challenges teams to create a list of five words that will stump the competition. To begin, pick any player to roll the five letter dice and call out the letters that appear on each die along with the corresponding color. Each team then picks their writer who will fill in the colored squares on their word slate with the appropriate letter. So, if an R was rolled on the yellow die, the writer would write an R in the yellow square on the word slate. Both teams then flip over their timers so the white side is up and create a list of five words around the letters that are already filled in. On one word slate, the R in the yellow square would be the second letter of a word, but on the other slate, the R is the third letter of a word. As soon as each writer has written the fifth and final word, a team member quickly lays the sand timer on its side to stop the clock.
When both teams are done, the writers exchange word slates without looking at them. They then become the clue givers. One team goes first, and when the clue giver is ready, a member of the other team stands his team's sand timer up so the colored end is on top and the countdown begins. The clue giver shouts out clues to get his teammates to guess the five words on the list. This must be done in the same amount of time or less than it took the opponents to create the list. Play stops when the sand timer runs out or if the team guesses all the words before time runs out. The team moves their game piece one space along the board for each word they guessed correctly. The other team moves their piece one space for every word that was not guessed. Now it's the next team's turn. After their turn, one round is completed. Continue playing as many rounds as necessary until one team reaches the finish line to win the game.
Wordy Word comes with a game board, five 12-sided letter dice, two game pawns, two 60-second sand timers, two word slates, and two dry erase pens and erasers. The game is for four or more players in two teams.
