Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and the number of cases continues to rise. The main cause of skin cancer is exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) from the sun and tanning beds. The good news is that most skin cancer is preventable and treatable when caught early. Lisa Quale, senior health educator at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, presents ways to prevent skin cancer with sun-safe behaviors and to detect skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable.
