Is it normal to skip a period?
No, it isn't normal, unless you are pregnant.
The pregnancy test came back negative.
You might have tested things before the hormone levels are high enough to give you a positive result. Or you aren't pregnant.
Why would my period skip if I weren't pregnant?
You could have had so much stress in your life that it skipped. That's been documented fact for years, from women starving during various wars and suffering losses.
All I've had is a stressful semester at school.
In modern society, we tend to get as stressed over abstract things like grades as our ancestors were over saber-tooth tigers. If you're really stressed, it might skip.
When will it return?
Maybe when you aren't stressed. Or it will come back the next monthly cycle.
What else could cause it to skip?
If you are on a strict diet or fasting a lot, the hunger could make your body shut down its reproductive system.
I'm not starving.
If your caloric intake drops below a thousand calories a day, your period shuts off. If it is routinely low and you're losing a lot of weight, your body acts as if it is starving and shuts down non-essential systems.
I know malnutrition could cause it, but I don't consider this malnutrition. I take vitamins and work out.
If you are working out a lot, your period might skip. Your body considers that a stressful condition.
I am so wired. What can I do?
Stop stressing out about your period skipping, and it ought to come back. Unless it is your birth control.
I shouldn't be so stressed it's my birth control.
No, I meant the contraceptive shot can make your period skip.
That's at least one cause I know it isn't.
