Retro meets electro in MINI’s first zero-emissions model.
The swinging sixties style – or BMW’s take on it at least – has been harnessed to powertrain technology from the climate-conscious twenties with the introduction of the MINI Electric Hatch. Producing 135kW for a 0-100km/h time of 7.3 seconds, the motor of the MINI Electric Hatch is fed by a 32.6kWh lithium-ion battery. That’s not a large capacity, but the MINI is not a large car. The manufacturer claims that it will travel 233km between recharges, according to the WLTP standard. Available initially in ‘First Edition’ variants from August, the MINI Electric Hatch is priced from $59,900.
