The highest point in Germany is the 2.962 m high Zugspitze ("Top of Germany"), in the Alps.
At the top, you will find Germany's most beautiful roof terrace, where a unique 360° panorama opens up all year round. From there, you can count 400 alpine peaks from the mountains Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.
The peak - Zugspitze - lies on the Austrian-German border but it belongs to Germany.
On the German side is Bavaria (Bayern) and on the Austrian side is Tyrol (Tirol).
The Zugspitze glacier ski area is located at 2.600 m altitude.
Directly at the bottom of the Zugspitze lies one of the most beautiful lakes in Bavarian Alps - the Eibsee.
In the summer, the Eibsee invites you to swim in the crystal clear water in addition to various hiking trails. Sporty people can rent pedal boats, rowing boats and stand up paddle boards and explore the lake on their own.
Even in the winter, the eibsee with its picturesque winter landscape is absolutely worth seeing.
