The advancement in mass spectrometry has allowed high-precision measurement of the isotopic ratios of heavy metals, opening a new toolbox for studying biogeochemical processes in Marine, Earth, and Planetary sciences. Metal isotopes have been widely used to trace sources, estimate fluxes, and reconstruct redox and chemical evolution of the ocean-atmosphere system, to name a few. This seminar will introduce the analytical services provided by Wang lab and highlight some recent chromium isotope work in the Chesapeake Bay and Mobile Bay.
