Grandview Campground, located at ~8600 ft elevation above Big Pine, CA on the East side of US 395.
This is a first come first serve campground with 20+ sites located around one big loop that circles an open field. There is no water available in the area nor cell reception at the campground. If you are driving up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, which is 5 miles away, you'll get some reception on the way up. The campground is actually free with a suggested donation of $10 in 2021.
There are 2 vault toilets, one on each side of the loop. They are relatively clean, but make sure you bring toilet paper in case they are not restocked in a timely fashion.
The campground make for a good spot for night sky view given the big open field. And is a good base camp for heading up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest and the Patriarch Grove.
