if it's not clear from the video, you can just double-click the empty space to the left of the door and the shade will start walking right and happily walk over the pit. no idea why it works like this, but i've come across other areas with weird pathing. it's so easy to do i actually did find this by accident while just trying to walk from place to place, but i didn't see it mentioned anywhere, so i figured i should document
also in case you were wondering, you can levitate back down past the pit without issue. i was prepared to tell them to go home and then close the game if i ended up trapped on the other side, but it wasn't necessary.
this is probably useless for any speedrun, since even if you were thinking of getting all the crystals early for some kind of "fully decked out home"%, there's still the library to worry about, right? (p.s. i'd already broken my first mattock, so i can't even get those crystals early anyway....) i don't know how any of that works, i'm only *checks* 8 days, 9 hours, 7 minutes and 30 seconds in and haven't looked at runs. this game doesn't even seem to have a speedrun.com category?
