The minor conservative Bareun Party selected Yoo Seong-min.... as its new chair.
In the party's national convention on Monday,... the former presidential candidate got nearly 57 percent of the vote,... to win a six-way race.
In his acceptance speech,... Yoo vowed to foster internal unity and push ahead with the party's pursuit of a new conservatism.
The chair position had been vacant after former leader Lee Hye-hoon... stepped down over graft allegations.
The main task at hand: boosting solidarity among members,... after losing nine lawmakers to the Liberty Korea,... a conservative power the Bareun party broke away from ten months ago.
The defection stripped Bareun of its negotiating bloc status,... which requires a minimum of 20 seats in the National Assembly.
