"Laughter is the Key" BGM from the episode "Pinkie Pride" of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" (S04E12).
--Overall Comments--
Here it is—probably the most anticipated episode of the season, and maybe for some the series, so far! The one and only Weird Al graces My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with his presence a couple years after posting pony onto his Twitter feed. It truly is amazing how this episode came about. He's also technically the one of the first "guest stars" of an episode, and the first that has actually been advertised as such.
And boy, does he deliver! Of course this episode is filled with tons of polka in the songs and BGM, as you should be expecting from an episode centering around not only Weird Al, but Pinkie Pie as well. However, Al also gives a stellar acting performance as Cheese Sandwich, nailing both a comedy side, and a super-serious western-inspired side.
The episode also marks the return of writer Amy Keating Rogers, who was absent from season 3. It's fantastic to have her back on-board, as she always writes some of the best and most fun episodes of the series, and this one continues that tradition. The story for the episode is credited to Jayson Thiessen, making this the first episode he has been credited for that.
This episode was jam-packed with music also, with almost the entire 21 minute runtime filled with either songs or fantastic BGM. As in the previous musical episode, "Magical Mystery Cure," normal BGM composer William Anderson stepped aside and let Daniel Ingram, Steffan Andrews also handle the soundtrack. As in the season 3 finale, this allowed the backing music to be very, tightly tied in with the songs, much of the time reprising themes from the songs themselves afterward. They both did an absolutely fantastic job with the soundtrack on this episode. On a related note, this episode has 18 unique tracks, not including the instrumentals—the most I've ever pulled from a single episode (even "Magical Mystery Cure"!).

What's this? Rainbow eyes? That can only mean one thing!
Pinkie realizes that Rainbow Dash is no longer enjoying her party due to the competition between Pinkie and Cheese getting out-of-hand. Due to breaking her party promise, Pinkie forfeits the competition.
Here we get a small reprise of the "Six Locks. Six Keys" theme that we've heard in the previous two key episodes and the season opener. Its a little different and much more brief here, but keep in mind this is Daniel Ingram/Steffan Andrews, and not William Anderson, doing the backing music for this episode. I must give credit to them, as well as Meghan McCarthy and probably Jayson Thiessen for making sure this theme was matched with the Rainbow eyes moment in this episode even with different composers. It's great to have a theme helping to hold together a continuing storyline from this season!
