Morphoses performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in 2012.
Inspired by his magnificent dance film "Labyrinth Within" (previewed here), prominent Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg elegantly blends arresting visuals, gorgeous dancing, and a score by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang. A choreographer and dancer of international acclaim, Pontus Lidberg has danced with The Royal Swedish Ballet and Ballet du Grand Théatre de Genève and has created dances for The Royal Danish Ballet, The Beijing Dance Theater, and many other companies.
Morphoses, directed by former New York City Ballet star Lourdes Lopez, is an adventurous dance company made up of some of the finest classically trained performers in the world. New York City Ballet soloist Adrian Danchig-Waring (performing courtesy of NYCB) joined the ensemble for this special Jacob's Pillow Dance engagement. In this world premiere dance work, Morphoses dove into themes of love, lust, and betrayal with expansive and sensual choreography, creating a completely exhilarating theatrical experience.
