It's the holy grail of audio - To be able to isolate the vocal from a song, or isolate the backing from the vocal, without having access to the original multitrack. If you can isolate the vocal, you can make a complete remix, totally with your own instrumentation. If you can isolate the backing, you can record a different vocal, perhaps with a different singer, or in a different language.
