Today we complete this DIY green roof installation by filling with soil, planting native species plants, and covering with straw and netting. This is episode 4 in a series showing you how to install a greenroof on a sloped roof. Last time we laid down the water proof membrane and implemented a drainage system with the goal of maintaining a waterproof seal over the roofing material while allowing water to enter the pipe and down the downspout.

Although we are homesteaders on YouTube, we want to start out first by saying that we are by no means experts in the homesteading lifestyle. We still consider ourselves to be brand new, starting our family homestead from scratch. Two years ago we moved into this 100+ year old farmhouse with a little less than 4 acres of land, a couple barns, and a whole lot of potential. After being inspired by other homesteading channels, we decided to start our own to document our journey as a homesteading family.
