Please direct question to my Facebook page Evolution Stoneware Pottery or email me through my website www.EvolutionStoneware.com. This video follows Janis Wilson Hughes as she works in her Evolution Stoneware Pottery studio over the course of 1 week in March 2014 preparing for her solo show 'Cycles of Vitality' presented by the Art League of Hilton Head in the Walter Greer Gallery May 8 - June 1, 2014. Part 1 shows loading, bisque firing, and unloading a kiln full of pods as well as some roughing in of new pieces and kiln maintenance work on my 40+ year old small kiln.
Part 2 shows the process of staining the pods with engobe and glaze firing them, some more sculpting, and a road trip to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens to drop off work at the gift shop and a trip to OCAF in Watkinsville to deliver 2 disassembled totems that are a part of the national juried exhibition 'Southworks'.
Part 3 shows unloading the finished pods from the kiln, extruding test tiles for glaze testing, assembling totems, and a trip to pick up a newly purchased used kiln and installing it in the studio.
