The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) held a press briefing on Tuesday to provide an update on the Trump administration's response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Officials cautioned that the coronavirus will likely cause a pandemic and urged residents in the U.S. to follow proper steps to mitigate the spread of the virus, adding that the U.S. government is undertaking aggressive containment efforts.

Officials say there have been more than 50 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the U.S., including dozens of cases among those repatriated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship and at-risk areas in China.
