Fermented rice water is rich in antioxidants, provides UV protection, helps skin barrier, soothes irritation/inflammation and reduces dark spots. Unfortunately many shy away from this amazing natural skincare due to its smell, which comes from the fermentation process.
Personally, I don’t mind it. Also, when I use it on my skin, the smell dissipates almost immediately. However, if the smell is why you’re holding back, here are 2 easy ways to enjoy it without any potent scent:
1. Use fresh rice water immediately after making it, without fermentation. Keep in the fridge and use it up within a short time, about 2 weeks.
2. Lightly ferment it by leaving it in room temperature for 1 day. Keep in the fridge and use it up within a short time, about 2 weeks.
