Seed dormancy is the time frame between the seed leaving the plant and right before it germinates. Most of us are familiar with breaking this cycle by simply putting the seed in some soil and adding water. This is not always the case however, often seeds require an extra que before they will begin to germinate. These cues for seed germination can include exposure to extreme heat, prolonged exposure to cold, and even physical degradation of the seed itself. These processes are called stratification and scarification, I will cover these in more detail in a future video.
