What happens when you force a demo that expects a TMS9918A, which has bitmap mode, on a machine which has a TMS9918, that does not?
We are forcing this demo to run on the TI-99/4A’s predecessor, the TI-99/4, which has a TMS9918 VDP, via a patched FinalGROM cartridge.
This demo writes directly to the hardware on what it expects is a TI-99/4A with a TMS9918A, and you get to see some of the tricks it uses to make a truly impressive demo, and blank or corrupted screens where it’s expecting bitmap mode, or otherwise has incompatibilities with the TMS9918A.
