Full title: “Should Animal Advocates Focus on Veganism or Antispeciesism?”
Panelists: Leah Edgerton (ProVeg International), Tobias Leenaert (ProVeg International; CEVA), Magnus Vinding (Author), and Oscar Horta (Animal Ethics).
Animal advocates use different strategies to help animals. This panel will focus on two of them -- advocating dietary change to reduce demand for animal products, as opposed to a message that aims to promote the general principle that we ought not discriminate against animals based on morally irrelevant characteristics such as their species (anti-speciesism). What are their pros and cons, and which of these strategies is more effective at reducing animal suffering?
