Knowing where to sell musical instruments presents a huge problem for a lot of owners who are looking to sell.

If you take your guitar, bass, piano, amp or other items you want to sell to a regular store it's hard to know whether you're getting a fair price.
The store might want to take a cut, or they may not actually buy it. Rather they'll simply display it until a buyer comes along which can set you up for a slow sale.
Recently I was contacted by a great company called Honest Instruments that work a little differently and, I feel, give sellers a much better deal.
I hold my hands up that this is a sponsored post but genuinely Honest make selling a lot easier and a lot more profitable so if you are looking to sell then this is a service you want to take a look at.

Honest Instruments are a totally online company and this means that they can operate on smaller margins. This brings the size of their cut way down and means that more on the sale money goes into your pocket.
The way it works is you list your instrument with them, they give you a price and if you're happy you proceed. After that, you take your instrument to your local FedEx depot and that's it.
Honest are actually buying your instrument from you so you'll always get a quick sale and the money is put in an escrow before you ship your gear out. Once it's received then the money is released and you can choose to take it as either a cheque, through PayPal or bank transfer.
Honest also insure each package and pick up the tab with FedEx so all shipping is free. And if you do change your mind once it's been shipped you can get your gear back.
These are some pretty bold claims so I thought I'd put this to the test by doing a fake sale of two of my basses (The Glarry valued at $70 and Ibanez Fretless at $550) to see what kind of fee I could get for them.
