There is no question the pandemic has been tough. The world was forced to find a new normal, with some people saying it's taken a toll on their mental health.
But a new study has found that COVID-19 had a limited impact on global mental health in the first year of the pandemic.
Canadian researchers reviewed 137 studies from around the world that measured people’s overall mental health, as well as depression and anxiety levels, before the pandemic and then again in 2020.
They were surprised to find a minimal overall change at a population level.
But as Katherine Ward reports, the research suggests there are some groups who struggled more than others.
