Why do Mormons think they will become Gods?
That is simple. Our prophet Lorenzo Snow said that God was once a man just like us. He also told us that we can become just like him someday.
How does that happen?
When we go through the temple and perfect ourselves, we become worthy of exaltation. Exaltation gives us godhood. We will become the gods of our own worlds just like Heavenly Father is for us.
Was it only Lorenzo Snow who taught this?
Nope, Joseph Smith taught it too. In fact, he told us that we needed to learn how to become Gods, just like all the other Gods did before us.
Wow, I didn't realize that.
Even Brigham Young told us that the Lord created us so we could become Gods like Himself.
It still doesn't make any sense to me. Doesn't the Bible say in Isaiah chapter 43 verse 10 that God is the only one and there will never be one before or after Him?
Well, I believe that latter-day prophets trump old ones.
Also, in Isaiah 44:8 it says that God knows of no other Gods besides Him.
I know that in The Miracle of Forgiveness it says that we are "gods in embryo" and that is good enough for me.
Plus, these are the prophets of our church, if they lied or were wrong that would mean they weren't really speaking for God. I cannot believe that.
Do you believe there is only one true God?
For our world I do. However, there are different Gods for different worlds and universes.
I just know that the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob is the only true God and if you yourself ever become one, the only conclusion is that you would be a false God.
Think what you want. Non-Mormons will not make it to the Celestial kingdom anyway. You will be our servants forever regretting you didn't join our church.
