The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, citing grievances over his handling of the tragic rape-murder incident at the hospital on August 9. The IMA's Bengal branch and other medical associations called for action against Ghosh, accusing him of bringing disrepute to the profession. The suspension follows a polygraph test administered by the CBI and ongoing investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into alleged bribery and anomalies at a government hospital. Dr. Ghosh's recent appointment as principal of another state-run medical college was also revoked amid widespread protests.
