In general police in Nicaragua are much nicer to foreigners than police are to other Nicaraguan people. That being said it is common for police here to try to get money if you are driving a vehicle. If you are in a taxi or a bus this is rarely a propblem. If you aren't in a party scene or driving a vehicle then you won't have to deal with police aside from seeing them in the streets and at roundabouts.
