The United States 'approves' the successor of the F-35 Stealth Fighters for Ukraine, which are currently 'rusting' in Australia's air base.
In response to Ukraine's urgent request for Western fighter jets, Australia is considering giving its decommissioned F/A-18 Hornets to the Ukrainian Air Force rather than scrapping them.
According to the Australian Financial Review, instead of disposing of 41 Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18 Hornets as originally planned, Australia, the United States, and Ukraine are discussing giving aircraft to Kyiv.
According to individuals who spoke with the publication, the US is willing to transfer the F/A-18s to Ukraine.
If Australia supplies the first batch of fighter jets, the Americans (and other countries) will have the cover they need to contribute hundreds of F/A-18s.
