Doctor Who is in shambles at the moment. The 60th Anniversary did little to repair a fractured fanbase and in fact made those divisions deeper. It was not as much a celebration of the franchise as a means to get as many eyeballs on a floundering product to shame them into tuning in. Long story short, it didn't work.
With the 50th Anniversary, the creatives brought in all the available Doctors to provide enjoyable entertainment for a franchise at it's peak. Besides David Tennant, you couldn't pay any of the other Doctors to reprise their roles. Christopher Eccleston, the long estranged 9th Doctor had a few things to say regarding his potential return to the series. He has a list of demands and let's say, they now align more with the public than they have in years gone by. If you wonder why he hasn't returned to the franchise since it's resurrection in 2005, the current man in charge, Russell T Davies, is a big reason why.
So instead of repairing a broken series, what is the BBC focusing on? RACIST FANS!
It's time to shelve the franchise, once again, until cooler heads can prevail.
