With summer well underway, hot ambient temperatures would be combined with a cool sea breeze, as the Swanage Railway fronted their Green Timetable. Bulleid Light Pacific Class - 34028 “Eddystone” would provide the steam traction for the day, as it worked 6 return trips through the Isle of Purbeck between Swanage and Norden.

Also running was a combination of class 117 and class 121 units - W51388, W59486, W55028. This was a strange formation as the two lead coaches were that of the three car class 117 set but with the third car replaced by a class 121. Nevertheless the unit performed 5 round trips with steam and diesel services passing at Harmans Cross.
